Here is my newest portrait, a kitty named Chelsea in mixed media. The scene on the left side shows her with dog pal Murphy. I enjoy these kinds of portraits that besides having the main subject also include smaller scenes that tell a bit of their story. My mixed media portraits are a combination of watercolor, pen and ink, and colored pencil.
Coming up very soon is the 30 Day Sketchbook Challenge, which I’ve participated in since it was started in 2018. It is a fun challenge that has daily prompts which have always been quite varied. Choice of medium is up to the artists so also has much variety. I usually try to change it up, often whatever I think will work best with the day’s prompt and / or what time will allow that day. I’ll post about doing the challenge on my YouTube channel* etc., and encourage you to search out the hashtag #30daysketchbookchallenge on Instagram, Facebook etc. to be inspired by the variety of artists’ creativity that can come from a single prompt. It’s a bright way start to the year which is extra enjoyable since the weather is so dreary.
