My mixed media portraits are usually a combination of watercolor, ink, and colored pencil. I offer it as an option for having a pet’s portrait created in color that’s less expensive than an oil painting. And some folks may simply like the look better than oil. However part of the pricing difference is offset by framing costs — with an oil needing only a frame (or even doing without since I use gallery wrap canvas and paint the sides), while a mixed media portrait should have matting, glass and a frame.
