New ink portrait in progress

Here’s a couple pics showing the beginning of a pen-and-ink I’m working on. The basic shapes are lightly outlined with pencil, then I start the inking. In a “montage” style portrait like this, I do some inking on one “scene”, then some on the next, as it helps me develop each in relation to the others. I like doing montages, I think they’re a nice way to tell the “story” of the dog. The dog is “Bee”, an English Cocker Spaniel. This portrait is to commemorate her National Field Championship win.

Once the basic outlines are penciled I start inking.
