Nearly finished #Inktober2020

This year I failed the #Inktober challenge, only getting to drawing #27 today. It’s back to work tomorrow but when I can I’ll sketch the last few just to finish it out. Here’s drawings #8 through #27. It was interesting how two themes developed as #Inktober2020 went along. First was exploring the portrayal of animals in the art of diverse cultures. Then I decided to draw extinct species and other animals on their way to extinction, sort of a small tribute.

Dogs and art are lifelong interests. The family Sheltie was my babysitter from infancy. Childhood 4-H participation led to AKC competition in obedience, Jr. showmanship, conformation. In more recent decades have done hunt tests, field trials, and agility with my English Springer Spaniels. My art endeavors also go back to childhood. I create pet portraits in pen-and-ink, oil and mixed media.
